Thursday saw social networking site Twitter was inaccessible for several hours. This was then followed with sporadic working and time-outs. The company claimed it was an “ongoing” denial of service attack. Facebook was also affected.

This attack was allegedly the result of a coordinated attack on a Russian activist blogger with multiple social networking accounts, including accounts on Twitter, Facebook and LiveJournal. The simultaneous attack targeted all the social networking sites the blogger known as Cyxymu had accounts with.

Twitter and Facebook are now functional again. The attack is currently being investigated.

Interesting...I was wondering why my facebook account wouldn't work. But I don't think it was all accounts though as Terri's was still working. Is it 'effected' or 'affected'? That is the one grammar rule I have trouble with. Explaination please!

Thanks, I missed that! Times like this I miss having an editor, looks like I need to get my offline server up and running!

For affect vs effect... Affect is to have an effect, an influence, on something or someone - "the cold weather affected the crops", and Effect is a result of something - "to bring a plan into effect".
